Firesteel Bio Scout Cocoshell – Fire Starter for Forest Camping

This fire starter is a reliable method for making fire during bushcraft or survival trips. The Firesteel consists of a magnesium rod with a handle made from biobased plastic derived from coconut shells. By scraping the supplied stainless steel scraper along the rod, sparks of 3000°C are produced, allowing you to make fire even in wet conditions or at high altitude.

Technical specifications

The fire starter features a handle made from bioplastic based on coconut shells, providing a natural brown colour and texture. The magnesium part is good for 3000 ignitions. The included scraper is made of stainless steel and contains an integrated emergency whistle. Both parts are equipped with a paracord cord to keep them together.

Use during forest camping

This fire starter works by running the scraper along the magnesium rod at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The resulting sparks are hot enough to ignite dry tinder, birch bark or fine wood directly. Also suitable for lighting gas heaters or spirit burners.
