Our experience with the Black Maxxim IGT Mach 1

At Shogun, we have extensively tested this air rifle and what immediately stands out is the robust polymer stock with SWA shock absorption. It feels solid, despite the relatively light weight of 3.1 kilograms. The loading mechanism via the break barrel operates smoothly and the CAT trigger (Custom Action Trigger) can be easily adjusted to your preference. The included 3-9x40 rifle scope is a nice bonus, although for maximum precision we recommend an upgrade.

Technology and performance

This air rifle operates with Gamo’s IGT gas piston system – so no traditional spring, resulting in less vibration and a longer lifespan. With a barrel length of 482 mm and muzzle velocities up to 420 m/s (4.5mm) or 315 m/s (5.5mm), you achieve consistently good performance. Use and handling

This air rifle feels familiar in use. The manual safety catch is logically positioned and the polymer stock sits comfortably in the hand, suitable for both left- and right-handed shooters. The single-shot mechanism means you need to reload via the break barrel after each shot – a familiar ritual that contributes to controlled shooting. The 11mm dovetail mounting rail provides space for accessories, although the rifle scope is already fitted.
