Black Tanto | MTech Xtreme – Robust outdoor knife for demanding tasks

The Black Tanto from MTech Xtreme is a sturdy outdoor knife with a fixed blade, perfect for bushcraft and survival. Experience from the Shogun team

During a bushcraft weekend, we used the Black Tanto for splitting kindling. The knife cut effortlessly through thick branches. The grip remained secure even with wet hands, although we did notice that the weight of over 600 grams became noticeable in the forearm after a few hours of intensive use.

Performance and sharpness of this outdoor knife

The 3Cr13 steel is a solid choice for general use. This stainless steel retains its sharpness reasonably well and cuts smoothly through rope, wood and food. The plain-edge grind makes maintenance easy. The tanto point is extremely strong for piercing movements, ideal for penetrating hard materials.

The handle offers excellent control thanks to the textured surface. With a blade thickness of 3 mm, the knife feels robust. The weight is mainly in the blade, which makes chopping movements powerful. As a fixed blade knife, there is no opening mechanism or lock required – it is always ready for use.
