During a weekend trip in the Ardennes, the weight was particularly noticeable – at 650 grams including the sheath, this is no lightweight. The knife chopped effortlessly through branches, but for finer cutting tasks it is somewhat cumbersome.

Performance and sharpness of this knife

The 3Cr13 steel is a Chinese stainless steel that maintains a reasonable edge with normal use. It cuts well through rope, wood and other outdoor materials. The coated blade finish offers extra protection against corrosion, although the steel is naturally stainless.

Grip and ease of use

The metal handle with cordura wrap sits firmly in the hand, even in wet conditions. The weight provides good balance for chopping tasks. The built-in survival kit with compass and matches is handy, but does make the grip thicker.

Maintenance and durability

Despite the stainless steel, we recommend cleaning and lightly oiling the knife after use. The coating may wear with intensive use. The supplied leather sheath occasionally needs leather grease to remain supple.
