During a bushcraft weekend, we tested this knife for making fire sticks and chopping rope. The balance feels good, although the knife is somewhat heavier than expected. The tanto design provides extra strength for piercing movements.

Performance and sharpness of this outdoor knife

The 3Cr13 steel is a solid choice for an affordable knife – it is stainless steel that holds its edge reasonably well. With a hardness of 56 HRC, it is easy to sharpen. The tanto shape with plain-edge cutting edge works excellently for rope and wood, although it is less suitable for fine cutting tasks.

Grip and ease of use

As a fixed blade knife, the Hard End does not require an opening mechanism or lock. The handle offers a firm grip, even when wearing gloves. The included polymer sheath keeps the knife secure during transport, although a belt clip would have been convenient.
